Hi all,

I've just purchased a very clean and almost brand new 2016 TDI Execline, which is perfect in every way... BUT I so desire the R-line lower ride, and better handling (did test drive some and they were indeed better).

I am trying to find out the following:

  • What EXACT parts are different in R-line? If possible, part#
  • Where's the best place to source those parts?
  • If is worth doing this? or even a crazier upgrade to Air suspension off EU cars?

From what I understand, you need struts/springs, and swaybar... and that's it. Right?

Thanks

PS. I am NOT interested in aftermarket, never liked how aftermarket worked on a family car...

This is the part that was in the box. look for part number 24-197083; this is a B6 strut

I know the differences between B4/B6/B8 struts.

different parts have different part numbers. B6 & B8 struts are different and have a different number. There are no B8 stuts for the 2014 gen Touareg

try another model, random example 2018 Golf R. There are B4 and B6 and B8 struts. different parts, different part number.
There are no parts wearing B6 number being different than B6 struts, it wouldn't be manageable.

You are 100% right. All you have to do is look at the Bilstein catalog to confirm that everything you are saying is accurate on the Touareg platform.
