Hi all,
I was mocking up the wiring for a wireless phone charger mount I have and upon opening the fuse panel cover, I noticed a decent amount of surface rust on the dashboard frame. It certainly doesn't appear to be compromising the structure of anything, but it's a little concerning. My best guess is that it might be from dripping condensation on the driver's side air vent just above? Anyone else have this?

Pretty normal. It’s raw, untreated steel. Do you live in a humid area? Any unprotected steel will do this.

Some members have run into this before. Turned out to be partially/fully blocked sunroof drain exits in the front wheel well. The water builds up in the drain hose and leaks out at a joint. Winds up dripping right in that area. Do a search on cleaning sunroof drains. Another member posted a picture that looks just like yours.

Curious if this could be covered under the 12 year/unlimited mile rust warranty?
LOL not a chance. It’s raw, unprotected steel. Of course it will have surface rust, especially in humid areas. Further, that warranty only applies to painted body panels.
