Change the coding to what makes everything metric, then change your units in the MFI back to what you want.

Matt
Okay I have a question from way back on page 1. I managed to get into the same spot where I hushed the seatbelt chime but then the car is in km instead of miles.

That digit change from 1 to 2 seems to control both the seatbelt chime and the units.

Anyone know the trick?

You won't hear from Matt since he is no longer on the forum. All you do is just change your units back to english to get what you are looking for. This part has nothing to do with VCDS. It is actually in the menu's in the MFI.

Pull the fuse is what I did. No errors in the dashboard display. But an error appears in a vcds scan, but thats expected.

No more beeps and red lights. :)

On a T1 model (2006 V10 UK model Altitude) is there any way to get the current speed up on the display instead of other stuff like radio channel, ambient temp, etc etc?

Using the sat nav for an accurate speed reading atm but would love to have it in the display.........

Back to turning off the tire pressure monitoring system. I understand where there are toggles, -1 or -2 in the setup, but how do you know what to use. Anywhere I can research the codes? Thanks

FYI much of this chatter is for T1 or 2007 T2. I tried almost all of these mods and got nothing to work except the door chime.

Does Ross Tech keep track of these values in a database? I found this page but mess to be pretty useless other then the HVAC adaptation and service position, see: VW Touareg (7L) Heating/Air Conditioning - Ross-Tech Wiki

Lastly...what is the mod you are doing with the ROW transmission. I have missed that one.

Unlock When Shift Into Park

I have 2005 Touareg V8. I added Spockat's keyless start button mod to the Touareg. After I put the car in Park and Stop the engine, is there a way to program the car to automatically unlock the doors? Right now, I have to either unlock the door or pull on the door handle twice to open the door.

Thanks for your advice!

Also, I didn't see it listed, but is there a mod to have both the low-beam and high-beams on at the same time? (i.e. holding the stalk switch)?

To answer you first question, no, not that I am aware of or it would have been added to the list of mods. The last part you are not going to accomplish since the coding is not in the module to allow it to happen. Was a gripe for many of us with the T1 & T2 Touaregs. They did add the code in the '11 and newer though.

What about this ?
youtube.com/watch?v=24zdzCsvY74

How to do that in my Touareg ? I dont have coming home option in my MFD
The lights staying on after you lock the car for a bit is a setting in the MFI. You don't need VCDS to do that.

It is possible to unlock by VCDS?

Look at this page. It is possible to use VCDS to turn off or turn on the Coming Home Lights option in the MFI menu.

Ross-Tech is not responsible for any damage or problems that may result from following these instructions. They are to be used at your own risk.

Specific Modules:

01-Engine: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works well with all engines available in the U.S. and most engines that users have tested in overseas markets.

02-Auto Trans: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

03-ABS Brakes: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

05-Acc/Start Authorization: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

06-Seat Memory - Pass Side: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

08-HVAC: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

09-Central Electronics: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

To put the DRL into the MFI menu as an option:

[Select]
[09-Cent. Elect.]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter the new code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding. If you do not have DRL in the MFI menu, your coding should be an odd number. To put the DRL into the MFI menu as an option, subtract 1 from the coding.

Example: So, if you do not DRL in the MFI menu and your existing coding is 0105695, subtract one to make it 0105694 To put the DRL into the MFI menu as an option.

State Hex Bit Decimal Function
ON 0 1 DRL Control Blocked in MFI
ON 1 2 Halogen High Beams
(Xenon Low Beams off when High Beams on)
ON 2 4 Interior Lighting Enabled
ON 3 8 Rain & Light Sensors Enabled
ON 4 16 Coming Home Lights Enabled
OFF 5 32 Rear Fog Enabled
ON 6 64 Front Fogs Enabled
ON 7 128 Xenon Lighting Enabled
OFF 8 256 Marker Lights Enabled
OFF 9 512 Unknown Function
ON 10 1024 Headlight Washers Enabled
ON 11 2048 Electric Fuel Pump Relay Block
(Gasoline Engines Only)
ON 12 4096 Wake-up function Enabled
OFF 13 8192 Second Battery Enabled
OFF 14 16384 Auxilliary Battery Enabled
ON 15 32768 Low Seatheating Enabled
(Memory Seats Only)
ON 16 65536 Electronic Load Management Enabled
OFF 17 131072 Rear Fog Disabled when in
Off-Road Suspension Setting

On our 2004 Touareg V8, we had the following options enabled from the factory:

65536 + 32768 + 4096 + 2048 + 1024 + 128 + 64 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 0105695

To add or remove a function, add or subtract the Decimal value for that option.

11-Engine 2: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine. This is only applicable to V10 TDI engines.

15-Airbags: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

Important Note: Please do NOT run Output Tests (function 03) on your Airbag Controller!
No, it won't deploy your airbags. But it MAY render the vehicle undrivable. Running Output Tests is supposed to make the airbag controller generate a simulated crash signal to the rest of the systems in the vehicle so that unlocks itself and shuts various things OFF. Unfortunately, one of the things it shuts off in the Touareg is the power supply to the Engine Control Module. Two things are needed (confirmed by a dealer tech who was brave enough to run Output Tests on an Airbag Module):

Clear "Crash Data" code from the DTC Screen in 25 - Immobilizer.

Reset the yellow Circuit breaker under driver's seat. The circuit breaker should be yellow and should be visible/accessible if you remove the carpeted "step" trim panel at the front of the seat (an operation requiring some dexterity, but no tools).

Beginning with Beta 310.0, VCDS will pop up a warning if you try to run Output Tests on the Airbag Controller.

16-Steering Wheel: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

17-Instruments: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

Recoding for chime and warning lamp preferences:

[Select]
[17-Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding for future reference.
Enter the new code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding. Look at the fourth digit in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

0 - No available equipment
+1 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+2 - Seatbelt warning active
+4 - Washer fluid level warning active.

Look at the fifth digit in the coding (Market version):

1 - "Europe" (No Navigation system acceptance screen, also see 56-Radio for other changes)
2 - "USA" 12 hour clock (Navigation system acceptance screen)
3 - "Canada"
4 - "UK"

Example: If you have all of the above warnings active and your car is set to USA (and your factory Soft. Coding is 0007231), if you would like to remove the seatbelt warning, subtract 2 from the fourth digit to make the coding 0005231. If you would like to keep the seatbelt warning, but remove the Navigation acceptance screen, then change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0007131. If you'd like to remove both the seatbelt warning and the Navigation acceptance screen subtract 2 from the fourth digit and change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0005131.

36-Driver's Seat: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

37-Navigation: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

39-Right Light: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

46-Central Convenience
VCDS works fine.

47-Sound System
VCDS works fine.

56-Radio: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.

Important Note: If you have recoded 17-Instruments from USA to Europe, this may change the way the Radio operates in Navigation-equipped vehicles. This does NOT seem to apply for vehicles that use the Premium VI radio without Nav, in which case a different radio is used for US applications versus European applications. Note that Europe uses different specs for their radio compared to North America.

FM:
FM frequencies in Europe are spaced .1MHz apart, compared to .2MHz in North America. This causes no problems in using a Nav Plus in North America, it just means you can tune into some frequencies (such as 92.2) which don't exist here. Since it can tune into all the North American FM frequencies that do exist, it works fine.

AM:
AM frequencies in Europe are spaced 9kHz apart, compared to 10kHz in North America. Europe also does not have AM Stereo, so the Nav Plus does not support it. This DOES cause a problem. It means you can only get "close" to some stations when trying to tune them in. It may sound a bit like an AM tuner when you turn the knob just off station, but if you are an AM audiophile, this may be an issue for you. If there is a particular AM station you like to listen to, you can calculate if the Nav Plus will get close in frequency. Simply start at 531kHz, then add 9 kHz until you get close. For example, if you have a favorite station at 660Khz, the closest you can get is 657kHz. The most a station will be out by is 4kHz.

65-Tire Pressure Monitor: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

68-Wipers
VCDS works fine.

6E-Control Head Roof: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

To turn console compass on all the time:

[Select]
[6E-Ctrl Head Roof]
[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 01
[Read]
Write down the existing value and enter "00" as a new value.
[Test]
[Save]

69-Trailer Control: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
Not yet tested, but VCDS should work fine.

77-Telephone: -- KWP-2000 (If equipped)
VCDS works fine.

Did anyone figure out how to get the high beam assit on a T1 without having all your lights on during the day (or all the time)? I've tried the VCDS and it worked, except I hate that I had to have all the running lights on at all times... Unless I missed something?
