Bummer, I feel your pain on the loss of the Touareg....

My 2015 TDI Lux was totaled after I hit a deer. Had the Treg all of 4 months.

The exterior damage did not look too bad ($5600), but when the pulled it apart they stopped counting at $12K) and called it.

Not sure what I am going to do. I may replace it with a 2017 3.6 if I can find one I like well enough, my wife likes red.

Some people will negotiate to buy back the salvage and part it out. Otherwise, the insurance companies generally expect a complete car...excepting for smaller bits that may have grown legs before they came to fetch it
