Friends, I've had the treg now for almost 2 weeks. 2 wonderful weeks I might add.

No doubt there've been other posts on this, but here's my chance at immortality.

I read the manual - found it less than helpful in many of my endeavours. I've looked for answers here and found many of them, I've looked at the touareg FAQ someone is running and found more info there.

Stuff I've figured out that initially had me perplexed:
1. mirrors fold in when you twist the dial all the way to the right - just past where you think you're going to break the switch.
2. you have to really concentrate when closing the back hatch window or you'll get a wicked wind noise when the air is on - one you can't figure out until you go back and slam it shut.
3. there's a storage bin under the passenger seat that looks like a better place to store the manual
4. the manual bin above the glove compartment needs gusto to stay closed when you're reinserting the manual - thus the passenger floor bin might be better. (I seriously have to sacrifice three chickens and wear clown shoes to get that thing to stay up with the manual in place)
5. the rain sensing sensors are adjustable by rotating the intermittent time circle thingy - found this one in the manual I think
6. the middle armrest is slidable if you push the button and don't lift up
7. I can beat an integra off the line and up to about 50mph - looked for this one in the manual but its not there.
8. there are two lumbar adjustments on the power seats - one for upper one for lower - its the same switch forward and back or up and down.
9. Turn off the stereo sound speed leveling option if you have all the windows down - its annoying - I leave it at 2 when I'm windows up - 3 is obnoxius in its switches and 1 doesn't keep up
10. For no understandabable reason when I have cd's in the bass is impressive for a stock stereo, switch over to FM and I get flabber bad bottoming out bass.
11. You can adjust the footwell lighting intensity through the MFI, but only when the vehicle is not moving.

That's all I have for now.

A couple of questions someone could help me with:
1. do the seats adjust to a driver without the keyless entry package based on the key? The reading suggests it might, but I'm not sure how it would. I have the seats with memory, but not the keyless entry. Are the mirrors supposed to adjust as well?

2. my back hatch door doesn't always unlock when I hit the back door button on my key I always have to hit it twice is this normal?

Any one have trouble looking up there VIN numbers on websites? Should this scare me if carfax can't tells me my vin is malformed?

Thanks all,
Jeff

When the car is standing still . . .

You can make an adjustment in the MFI comfort controls that will make all 4 doors open with one key-fob click, or just the driver door, and there may be other options.

In that same area you can choose to have the rear hatch "unlocked" at the same time the other doors are "unlocked" -- or you can require the specific fob-center-button.

If I may speculate . . . sounds like your T is set to open the driver door on the 1st key fob click, and all 4 doors and the rear hatch on the second click. I have a wife and infant so I've set mine to open everything on the first click -- baby seat, stroller, it all goes in there.

Gotcha, I'll take a look - if thats the case then I'll leave it as is seeing as its my wife's daily driver and the current setting seems safer for her alone.

Thanks again

- I found a very definitive guide someone posted on here describing the differential controls - look for a differential thread if anyone is interested.
