How do you know if the stepper motor is going bad? Mine seems to make a small amount of strange tire noise when I turn. Is this what the stepper motor messes with? Its not too unusual but annoying at times plus I feel like my tires are grinding away every time I turn. I have noticed some pretty rapid tire wear but the wear is even so I don't think its alignment.

Just had mine replaced and this was the exact situation you would notice it in.

Note: I'm not married so your mileage may vary.

I have two brand new OEM transfer cases in their original packaging that I received from a buddy of mine. One is for a V6 and one is for a V8 engine. I will give you one for a $1000.00 if it turns out that it is what you need. Let me know.

Maybe you should list your parts in the Classified forum? And, possibly explain how it is that your buddy should come into possession of two brand-new Touareg transfer cases, still in original packaging, etc.? (Seems a little unusual...)

Would probably enhance your credibility to give a little background on the parts.

I was skimming this thread due to a problem with premature tyre wear on a 2008 V6 TDI and noticed something that seen on my Treg.

When travelling very slowly (5 mph perhaps), if I put the car on full lock (either way) it does sound like the tyres are losing grip or grinding. It this problem still there on the MKII Touareg?

I am seeing uneven tyre wear on my Continentals (10k miles), haven't rotated them ever etc...

Contis don't wear well on the Treg.

Use the search facility to see what others think on tyres and replace them with something else.
