I had to replace my steering rack, but not because the hardlines on the rack itself were leaking - the end seal blew on mine due to a pitted shaft.

If memory serves me correctly, the other end you are referring to uses a hold down bolt & plate. It should be as simple as removing that bolt and both lines and the plate should come out. You'll see how it works once you remove the bolt, its a very simple setup.

The more challenging part would be to find replacement tubes... for MK4 cars, there is this kit available: https://eaaengineering.com/products/mk4-golf-jetta-steering-rack-hard-line-replacement-kit

The fittings are easy enough to fabricate, so you might be able to find a hydraulic shop that is willing to make you replacement pieces. Or maybe the pipes can be spliced & the leaky section replaced.

Hope this helps.
