Hi All -
Have a '17 Wolfsburg Ed. gas T-reg w/an annoying flutter-type rattle coming from what I've deduced to be coming from somewhere in the drivers-side rear around the exhaust area only when stopped or in idle.
Once I accelerate, the rattle stops - but will start again when stopped. It's not consistent & sometimes louder than others -- but never really loud.
Local VW dealer can't seem to locate but have confirmed it's there. They believe it to be a heat shield or maybe a bracket... they also state it doesn't seem to be harmful, just annoying... which I definitely agree with...
Any ideas on what this could be??

yeah - not sure... I'm no mechanic, so I don't have the tools to lift & get under to thoroughly investigate for myself, but the dealership's shop states they tightened a few skid plate screws & they didn't notice it again. I picked it up & it was noticeable before I got home...
Shoulda turned around at that point, but hindsight is 20/20....
Now I'm just trying to get a little more thought on it so I'll have some suggestions when I take it back for further investigation.

Well - after a few trips to catch the rattle, we finally got it. It was a fuel line flange that rattled at only a certain RPM - 700 rpm to be exact. So that's why it only rattled at idle or stop & seemed like it was an exterior rattle. Anyway.. the dealership had to take the rear seat out to get to & correct the issue. Upon doing this, a post that secures the seat which is welded onto the floor pan broke - so a VW engineer has had to verify the integrity of the post & has stated the floor pan needs to be replaced... so more waiting.
