Reuters June 6: VW's Skoda brand is considering selling cars in the US market. I was not very excited, but looking at their lineup their cars look really sharp and fresh. Thoughts?

It's a new brand that hasn't been sullied by Dieselgate. And Skoda is further down the value chain (cheaper) than VW. I like it. It wouldn't be part of our next car conversation (we've been looking at Audi's for my wife), but more choice is good!

Skoda Kodiaq

Loving the lines on the Kodiaq SUV, actually this is the prototype as the Kodiaq hasn't been officially unveiled.

Cool story of having Kodiak Alaska change its name for a day as a product launch for the model:

I agree less "diesel gate," lower price point. VW had been considering a lower "entry" brand for some time. If it does use existing dealer network would be cost effective. Just wonder how it would work... Toyota / Scion... Ford / Mercury we all know how those worked out...

The 5-seat Seat Ateca and 7-seat Skoda Kodiaq (not kodiak) are being added to VW Group models in Europe for 2017 model year - 2nd generation 5-seat Skoda Yeti will be 2018.
