Search the forums here for "RDS" or "Radio Data Service". This has been discussed a lot. I haven't seen any explination for the cause, but an easy fix has been discovered.

In the passenger side fuse box, pull fuse # 11 (with the key off). Re-insert the fuse after a couple of seconds or more. Your RDS info will probably reappear.

I discovered this in December, and my RDS info has remained since then. Others have tried this, and it sticks for a while, but sometimes disappears again after some combination of selecting preset stations. No one has nailed down a conclusive pattern yet, but the fuse #11 fix seems to always bring it back.

Talk about corporate efficiency. I originally was having RDS problems (every time I went to a given station, the first thing I saw was the artist name of whatever the very first song ever recognized on that station was instead of the scrolling text that should start with the station call sign) and took it in before I found this forum and the tip regarding fuse #11. ...
Actually, the data displayed is sent every couple of seconds by the radio station. You will see the first bit of text you receive when you tune in the station. If that happens to be the song title, or artist, that's what you will see. In my area (around Boston) the stations are all different in what and how they transmit for RDS data, if they transmit at all.
