Sounds like a standard OBD II code.

If you have VCDS (aka VAG-COM), you can read the engine modules and get a more in depth idea of what is going on.

The throttle body has nothing to do with cam shaft position. Sorry, but that tech has no clue what they're doing. Find a shop that is familiar with the VR6 before this other place steals any more of your money.
