I don't think you can use the activation SD card. It is specific to each vehicle. You have to defeat the activation by following the steps provided with the maps sd card.

I have also had someone come by with the red screen and I just pushed in the firmware SD card and it updated successfully.

You'll get a couple of errors in the 5F module of invalid data set and something about a security code activation missing but if you follow the steps everything will work correctly even with the errors. And you supposed to leave the errors there. The only way to avoid this is to buy the correct activation pack for your specific vin and used it otherwise never insert the activation SD card.

HI bro, I have the red screen problem, I have the HN+_US_VW_P0146 in the green menu I'm new in this, and in engineering menu appears version:VW and Software MU:0544, my problem starts when the BT don't allows me to connect my phone and others also does not let me erase the list of paired devices. feeling myself as an engineer I bought the vag-Com to enable green menu, all was fine but at green menu I found an option "emergency update" fool me pressed it and I messed up, the stereo enter in the loop of green/red screen, in this forum I found that with the K0711 firmware I can bring it to life, my head is broken of trying to solve it, I used an 2gb SD to put the FW first time with folder 1/2 and txt but in the screen appears consistency error, then I found that by storing the content of the folder 2 and testing it but appears no medium, obviously tried with exfat and fat32 with full format and nothing, finally in my desesperation I put the files on a CD, just folder 1/2 and the txt, appears the green screen and says reading, after a few moments the screen turns on black and nothing else happens, left it for about 30 minutes and nothing, so I don't know if it's installing or not, please can you help me?

If you have windows 10 you can open iso file extensions and just drop the file location onto the SD card just as you would for the map update and activation. I had to turn on "user defined" function when I did mine tho so keep that in mind

Just realized you needed the activation file too my bad 😅 I can send that to you on Monday when I get back to the office if you can wait

That is only for updating the firmware, you don't need the activation file for it. On an earlier post there's a map update file that requires an activation file but if you're only updating the firmware I don't think you do
