Mornin everyone,

I've been searching the forum for this specific issue but found nothing - so thought I would start a thread.

I have been noticing for a while that my RNS850 (2012 TDI Exec) has been skipping the sound while playing via Bluetooth from my iphone. IT happens mainly when the song is has a lot of stuff going on at once (if that makes any sense). I can repeat this issue on a specific song over and over.

At first I thought perhaps the song itself was the issue or perhaps a low bitrate song - but all my stuff is 320kbit and I played these same songs via Bluetooth in an A4 and did not get any skipping. Played these via Bluetooth in my wifes CX5 - no skipping.

I also noticed that sometimes if the volume is higher it will have a tendency to more likely skip - it does not appear to be a speaker issue or any type of distortion.

The one thing I have not yet tried is to load these skip prone songs directly onto the hard drive or on a CD and see if anything changes - however I play 99.9% of my tunes through Bluetooth.

Anyone experience something like this?

Am I the only one seeing this problem?

Just throwing this out there, is it possible it is not some sort of clipping issue with the amp at a certain level of volume causing this? Could be just frequencies in the song the stock amp has issues with at a given volume level.

dskwc - I will try the re-pairing tonight and see if that solves the issue.

Yeti - could perhaps be an issue with the amp - as I mentioned sometimes it really on happens - or happens more-so at higher volume levels. Could this possibly be a warranty item you think?

I can't say for sure. If it is a clipping issue it is just the limitations of the stock amp. Not much you can do but to just turn it down and listen at a level where it does not do it. I only brought this possibility up since you said it worked well in the other two vehicles and they would have different and possibly better amps then the Touareg. I was into high end audio a while back and I know of this possibility, but not sure if this is in fact your issue. It may be a hard thing to track down really.

Thanks for the info Yeti - what I should really do is try my phone in another T3 with DynAudio to see if it is in-fact a limitation of this specific amp - thanks again for the input.

The Audi had a base sound system and my wife's CX-5 has a very very basic sound system....

I had the same problem with my iphone 4S - the bluetooth antenna is very prone to attenuation from your body. I'd often get a weird skip/signal loss issue if I had the phone in my pocket. Try sticking it in a cup holder, bottom facing upward and see if the issue persists.

My iphone lives in my cup-holder, but thanks for the tip - I'll try moving it around and see if it helps.

I didn't get a chance to re-pair my phone lastnight - so hopefully tonight! Spent lastnight detailing and waxing!
