My 2016 MY17 V6TDI RNS 850 - does not appear to display or read aloud received text messages, is this normal or can it be enabled some how. -- or am I missing some instructions in the user handbook - Thanks

The RNS850 does display text messages actually and had this capability back in 2010.
The problem is it only shows text messages saved on the SIM card either connected via the RSAP protocol or on a SIM inserted in the RNS850 media unit.
Modern phones don't save SMS's to the SIM card so it is pretty useless nowdays.
