Should not need any activation. I did some firmware mods afterwards, and then I needed to reactivate. Used activation for older maps without problems.

Interesting. RAR files split up... Reminds me of the BBS days of dialup
The pass; does not work and no instructions on what to do with the .ISO or the files in the RAR.

I am assuming that you were able to use the password? Can you confirm?

I used winrar and the password worked just fine. Follow instructions for installing older maps, there are some on this forum. You need a sd-card and some time.

Quite simple to copy/paste the password in. Pass did not work. Can someone else confirm?

Did you use cloudmail or mega? I downloaded it from cloudmail and the password worked. But I got "corrupt" error on my Mac, but in wondows 10 and winrar the same archive worked just fine.

Ya Vw wants $150+tax for the firmware update to HN+_US_VW_0711 and which I think HN+_US_VW_0737 is the most current and $472+tax for the v10 North-America maps. lol. I have downloaded the 0711 and made a dvd to update the firmware myself but would like the 0737 firmware and hopefully someone comes up with the V10 North-America maps. I can't understand the cost factor here.

Does the firmware update alone add any new functionality, or is it just needed to install the new map date?
