So I took in my 2008 T2 to Libertyville VW here in Illinois for a simple tiptronic switch replacement under warranty. While there I also had the bodyshop do some minor paint repair. When my wife picks up the car, she notices that someone was snooping around in the spare wheel compartment and my RNS-510 is not properly communicating with the car. The 510 does not turn on or off with the car, there is no menu for radio, navigation, or compass in the mfi, it says fault in the digital display for the compass, and the lights do not light up with the rest of the instruments in the car. So obviously the vehicle does not recognize the 510. After vaging the car the following fault codes were displayed(see below). None of the faults were there before taking the car to the dealer except for the rear view camera since I haven't purchased the "B" camera ecu yet, and the satelite radio since I haven't had time to run the new wire.
When I take the car back in to have them fix the issue, they say they can not fix the problem because the 510 is not orginal equipment and tech support has no idea what is wrong or how to fix it. Tech support adamently says that the 510 needs to be coded and is not simply plug and play. The service writer even asked if the 510 is aftermarket because the parts guy can't find it in etka. I simply told him there is a VW part number on the unit itself and to check his lot for any 2010 Tregs with navi and to his surprise he will see the same thing.
So what is the problem? I already put in a call to Ross-Tech and someone is reviewing my codes but I thought I would post to see if anyone here has any experience with a similar issue. I'm assuming for some reason either the VW tech or the body shop dissconnected the battery and reconnected it and the CAN system freaked out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
