Replacing Interior Trim

I am buying a Wolfsburg Edition and I want to remove the aluminum trim on the side panels, passenger dash, and center console and replace it with the wood grain look. Anyone have experience with a project like this? A friend recommended wrapping that part too but I'd rather go with the OEM parts.

I would wrap them, too. Unless you buy NEW, all used trim will likely have cracks in it.

I wrapped some parts of my factory "wood" trim with 3M dinoc woodgrain and it looks really nice. I need to order enough to do all the doors, etc. The door panels have to come off to remove the trim. Removing the trim and doing a full wrap around of the film is essential for a good look. Don't try to "make it work" by not removing the trim.

There are some people who want wood, some who want aluminum. There are some old threads on here where we have removed, swapped, wrapped, you name it, on the trims.

You might be able to work out a swap with an existing owner on this forum. It has happened a couple of times in the past.

Interesting, I want to do the same with my 2017 Touareg, Wolfsburg.

Be aware that the swap won't work for the executive because the executive has memory seats on the wood door panel. The Wolfsburg doesn't :(

I bought some wood vinyl 3m, if I can get the courage to do the job soon I will post pics!

Good luck!
