I am a big do it yourself person but I don't want to ruin anything. Can any of you more experienced owners give me some advice on removing the chrome trim around the car and replacing with black trim. Im wanting to personalize my car with only black and white (no chrome)
I have no experience with debadging either. Open to opinions, criticism, and advice. Thanks fellow owners

Good luck with replacing chrome trim, very expensive and time consuming. You're better off Plastidipping it, much cheaper, faster and completely reversible. To debadge use dental floss then clean it up with GooGone. One more thing, we'll need pictures

You should be able to find it at any of the major hardware stores or auto stores.

I used black 3M film to cover all the alum trim around the windows. Turned out great but not an easy process to install. Time consuming to trim and tuck under the rubber all the way around. In the end, you would never know this is not how it came from the factory.

Plastic dip works great! I did the trim on my egg. Looks great. To de badge use a heat gun to weaken the glue. If u have a steady hand take a razor blade and remove. If u have glue left, use a pink eraser, rub at it till its gone. It won't hurt the paint.

I think I'm gonna give plastidip a try, that video that LOtouareg sent was quite helpful. It'll probably be a couple weeks before I get to it but I will get yall some before during and after pictures. Appreciate the help!

I purchased the film from autovinylsolutions.com. Just the standard glossy black. Sounds like the plastidip might be a quicker way to go and a little cheaper. The vinyl is flawless once you are done so maybe depends on how well you paint if you can match this.

Not sure which will hold up better over the years. I also applied it to the chrome strips on the lower front grill.

That film does look good
I was looking at the window trim and it goes under the door so it might be more of a pain to plasti dip all of it, I guess I will come to a conclusion this weekend when I start on the emblems.
Debating on doing the wheels as well

I was pleased with how well even the ends came out (that you mostly see when the doors are open). The film is very flexible which allows you to tuck it under nicely. In a couple of those tight spots I used a heat gun (for about 2 seconds) to shrink it and avoid any wrinkles.

Let us see your handiwork regardless of the path you decide, especially if you do decide to do the wheels.

Hi, I am going to attempt this at the weekend - do you have any tips?

Especially regarding how to get the film under the rubber trim

Sorry, out of the country so haven't checked lately.

I used a thin plastic card (like a credit card but thinner) to separate the rubber from the metal and worked it around about a cm at a time. A pain and time consuming... some sections were harder than others. Worst part was behind the drivers side mirror. I don't think I ever really got it fully under the rubber there but it isn't visible anyway.
