The remote boot release on my 2004 Touareg will not work. It did not work with the original key I had, I have since purchased another one which still does not work. The boot opens fine from the handle but not from either keyfob.

Has anybody any ideas - could it be a fuse somewhere?

I also had this issue on my 2004 Touareg...
But when I rang VW Luxury support they assure me the button only unlocks the boot - it does NOT release the boot as on many vehicles. You have to use the handle to release the boot.
Apparently you can set the Menus so that the door unlock button does not automatically unlock the boot - hence the need for the seperate boot unlock button.

Thanks for this. This makes sense as I have also played with the menus and it made no difference but if it is not supposed to automatically open then no problem.

Auto open was only on the 08 and above. Was not an option on the older Tregs.

Be VERY careful when using this function on the remote. When the car is locked and you unlock only the boot with the remote, it automatically locks the boot again when closing. You can very easily lock the key in the car by doing this.
