Hi all,

Have a bit of service so I thought I would share my out back trip which is on going. The Treg is performing brilliantly although I have shredded two tyres on the Oodnadatta track. Unexpected stop at Williams Creek- but was a good stop. New tyres shipped from Adelaide to Coober Pedy and here I sit while they get fitted.

Some photos.

How are the bulldust holes on the Track? Last time I was up there, you could loose a small car in them.

Speed, Pressures? 80kph max and 32psi and you should be OK. I learned the hard way. Difficult when doing such long distances, but you should avoid the type of hassles you have now.
All the best for the rest of your trip. Dub

Curious....how did you get from Williams Creek to Coober with two shredded tyres, did you carry 2 spares?

my question is what tyres are they? Just curious.

Are they 20" wheels? Look like it - pix won't open as they are too big!! Dub (the pix - not the tyres!)

Hi guys,

I had a physical spare and the tyre on that got shredded as well so I bought a second hand tyre at Williams creek.

The tyres were 255/45/r20 eagle 4x4/suv tyres.

I have now got 4 new Coopers Xeon AT tyres on ($1600 lesson).

Road is very smooth and no pot holes to mention.

Drove another 300k akaroona cattle station on dirt. New styrene are brilliant.

Although I was too believing of the sales guy in Melbourne I should have checked more details on the tyres. Lesson learned.

Car still brilliant Although somewhat dirty!

Expensive exercise, with the benefit of hindsight for that money you could have purchase a set of 17 or 18" with new AT tyres fitted and kept the 20"s for urban day to day driving.

A lot of us that like a bit of outback/dirt road travel or tow heavy'sh vans have done just that.

If still on the road enjoy the rest of your trip and hope it will be uneventful for you car wise.

So trip update - back in Coober pedy after driving from Alice springs where my mate left his ford ranger after his engine dying in a 2 yr old car.

So I am now towing his camper - which my treg loves.

Getting 12.1 litres per 100k - two more massive days of driving to get us home after one of the most disasterous trips ever undertaken!

Still / I am loving the drive in my treg and even saw another guy today with a MY08 towing a huge van. Had a good chat.

The new tyres of Cooper’s are a little noiseir on the road but perform very well on the dirt.

Tomorrow - Coober pedy to Hahndorf
