Sounds like the software/pump issue. Hang in there. There is a solution.

I'm trying it's just that's had my first touareg for around 50 days and it was in the dealership for close to 20 days. I just traded out of that one and got into new exec touareg and after three days of having it I'm starting to have new issues. I really like the car I just don't know how much more I can put up with it lol.

Taking a leak also.

I've purchased a 2012 Touareg TDI three weeks ago. Since the day I bought it I've visited dealership six times. The issue I'm having is when I leave my car outside and temperatures reach mid 80F-mid90F the washer fluid leaks. When that happens the washer fluid sits on the paint and after the sun bakes it, it is very hard to get it off. After doing it so many times it is starting to affect the paint. The dealership had my car several times already and are unable to solve it. They exchanged wiper motor, washer fluid hoses, and installed a check valve. So pretty much they replaced everything they could. Engineer from VW is now involved. Waiting for the news from him and hopefully it won't take them much longer. I had my car for three weeks and out of all that time dealership had it for about a week...some other issues I'm having are excessive rattling that comes from dashboard and from center console right by the shifter, and random humming/vibrating from the steering wheel that occurs daily. My car has 700 miles on it and I expected a $50000 car to have no issues like that... Personally I think iris ridiculous that VW has no solutions for any of the problems described... Anyone else noticed a washer fluid leak or any other issues described?
Yes, my 2012 TDI Touareg rear wiper leaks if the washer fluid level is where it should be. I let the washer fluid tank run low until the dash alarm indicated "add fluid" came on and there was no leaking. Problem solved, no fluid, no leaks. Seriously, I took it into the dealer on 5/17/2013 and he said VW corp. was looking into the problem. At present there was no "Fix".:(

Very interesting thread.

Last week I noticed a line coming down from the rear wiper to my VW emblem on my 2013 Lux. This concerned me because it was blue and there had been no rain or wiper usage between the last wash and day I noticed it.
The line was also baked in and took considerable effort to remove.
It is the first time I have noticed it where there was absolutely no chance the wiper had been used. I've thought the rear wiper jet system was sub-par since day 1 so it may not have come to my attention.
Like the OP it happened when it was very warm outside, although it has been hot all summer. My only thought is that we are now starting to get some regular large temp swings from high 80's down to 50-60 at night.

I didn't think too much of it, as this line is constantly present on my DW 2011 Sport. Always had just assumed she washed the rear window more often, and it was never cooked on like on my 2013.

After reading this post, I now think it's something I may want to bring up to the dealer.

I think the issue would be easy to overlook or ignore on a normal daily basis.

Curious about how many other T3 owners maybe noticed this and thought that it was normal from the rear wiper use rather than maybe a leak that should be looked at.

There are also multiple threads elsewhere on the net referencing this problem on Touaregs, Golfs and Tiguans

I found TSB number 2023248 referenced on Vortex from 2011 to replace a check valve, TSB is from the Golf family.

Just had this serviced on my 2011 Sport.

Dealer replaced 7P5-955-985 Nozzle

Tech aid the old one was loose and the new one was a very tight fit.
Possibly premature wear?

I'll update again sometime in the future.

Anyone able to get their leaky rear wiper actually fixed by the dealer?

I just noticed mine was leaking pretty bad, and setup and appointment tomorrow to have it looked at.

I'll be sure to mention this is a well known issue.

Did you read the post above yours before posting?

Not sure if it worked or not but now that we are having some higher temps, I'm sure I will find out.

I did. You said you'd update in the future. I was just asking if the fix applied by the dealer actually fixed the issue or not.

I stopped in and they called VW Tech Services, and were told about a fix for the Tiggy that should applies to Eggs as well. They didn't have the parts, but ordered them, and will be putting them on this week.

This is a known issue dating back to 2011. Mine has been to the dealer 3 different times to repair this problem. They replaced the nozzle, installed a check valve, repositioned the line in the hatch and it still leaks. Its a simple hydraulic problem. The fluid hose that runs from the tank to the spray nozzle is at some point located higher than the spray nozzle. The residual fluid left in the hose wants to drain from the high point to the low point. When its cold, the nozzle shrinks small enough to keep fluid from leaking. When it warms up, the fluid expands just enough to force its way out of the nozzle. This creates a siphon from the high point to the nozzle.

The solution I found is to keep the tank about half full. This seems to keep the head pressure below the nozzle preventing the leaks. Bear in mind the Treg's tank is about twice as big as other vehicles washer tanks so volume (or lack thereof) should not be a problem.

Count me in with the rest.

Had the TSB applied on Thursday, and the rear wiper is still leaking pretty bad.

Was worse on Saturday, but still slowly dripping today. Guess I'll just have to empty out the fluid reservoir and keep it low. :(

Okay, after much research, the same problem on GTI's and Cooper Mini. The check valve VW uses is only a 1 psi valve. A 10 degree rise temperature is enough to open this valve. The solution for the GTI owners is to use the 3 psi check valve the Cooper mini is using. When I get some time, I will post the necessary parts needed as you will have to purchase the $4 check valve from Cooper Mini/BMW dealer, 3/8" x 6" washer hose and a couple of hose adaptors from VW.

Think I'm going to give this a shot too. Here's a link to the Tiguan TSB the dealer performed on my Egg. I can honestly say, I think the issue is worse after having this done. Every day now, I need to clean off a leak on the back. :(

Leaky leaky...

Well....

I picked up the valve from a Mini dealer to install it in phase of the one VW calls for in the TSB. Not to mention, I've been getting a rattle somewhere from the back ever since I got the car back from the dealer.

Took the back cover off and, low and behold, the dealer never installed any check valve anywhere. The entire hose going to the fluid valve is factory. No cuts or splices anywhere. It's no wonder this thing has been leading more (every day in fact) since I got it back from the dealer. Jeez...

I'll be sure to call the dealer tomorrow and bitch up a storm about this. I want them to show me where they added the valve.

VW dealer installed the "fix\updates" on my leaking rear washer, and I think it got worse. For the last two summers I plugged the washer nozzle, and unplug it in in the winter. I don't use my rear washer in the summer anyway.

Just wanted to update everyone.

I applied this fix (using the Mini valve) on my Egg on Thursday. Since then, not one dribble out of the rear wiper, and it's been over 90 here both days. So far, it looks like this fixes the issue. :)

As a reference, here's the link to the fix on Vortex. Process is pretty much identical for ours. Keep in mind, I paid $35.00 for the valve and two adapters. Ridiculous car dealers can charge $11.00+ for a small piece of plastic like that.

Leak Fix

My newish 2013 has the same issue, so not much has changed moving forward in model years. Dealer supposedly fixed it a couple of weeks ago, but the problem is as bad as before. I just applied a solution similar to the one above in jvalek's pictures. Will see if that fixes it until I go in for my 20K service and bitch at the dealer again.
