The rear tyres on mine (275/40-20) are wearing out substantially faster than front tyres.

The tyre wear indicates a tracking fault, but have measured tracking and seems OK, all the joints and bushes seem OK. Back Tyres make screeching noise when fast cornering.

Any ideas as to how to proceed on this?

Touaregs normally wear their tires evenly which is why, unless you are a cheapskate and run tires down to or past the wear bars, there should be no need to rotate tires.

+1 for pictures. Tires all the same pattern, age, manufacturer?

Is the wear even or uneven?

Poor quality (doesn't mean they were not expensive) tires can wear in strange ways too. My 255/55R19 Nexen Roadians on my 2008 V8 are wearing the fronts evenly and faster than the rear due to poor quality. They are rubbish, can't wait to get something else.
