Weird issue just rose it’s head today.

My trunk will not open, not from the drivers side door switch, key fob or the latch on the door itself. I do hear the motor making noise when I use the key fob but nothing.

How can I open the trunk and can this be repaired ?
Is this a common issue ?

What year is it ,a gen 3 ? My 2012 had an issue with one of the struts and was replaced,but it didn't completely stop working. These are electric,not hydraulic.

How can I open the trunk and can this be repaired ?

From outside with doors unlocked you should be able to press the latch above license plate and pick light gate up manually to open.
I had to replace the rear struts a few years ago on our 2011, they run about $400 each.
