Well, Hello everyone. I am having a rather interesting problem with my radio volume on my 2010 Touareg TDI. I have Dynaudio speakers, not sure if this means the radio is different.

The volume constantly turns up, essentially meaning I cannot use the radio. I can constantly turn down the radio voulme with the knob and it will stay in one spot, but as soon as I stop, it instantly starts increasing on its own. It has done this before but it only lasted a day and then went back to normal. Also, the steering wheel controls - volume and MFI - do not work. It is stuck on average MPG.

I tried some searches but have not come up with much. Has anyone heard of similar issues?

Well...I finally got around to scanning. I got a couple codes that are interesting. I am going to look into these and post back. I had already begun to look at a pioneer aftermarket radio but maybe I can find a cheaper solution.

Does the system have an option to raise the volume as vehicle speed increases? Speed-dependent volume adjustment. If it does have you tried disabling that feature?

Same thing happened in my wife's Audi and speed dependent volume needed to be disabled.

I have tried turning the setting to a minimum but I do not know where to disable it at. Maybe I can do it with vag-com? I'll check

Speed dependent volume is usually in the radio menu somewhere.

I'm more concerned that your steering wheel buttons don't work. I'm wondering if your "+" button is somehow permanently engaged, causing the radio to increase volume. This could also explain why the rest of the steering wheel buttons don't work.

But I would check both options.

You can probably also query the steering wheel buttons via VCDS (measuring blocks), although I've never tried to do it personally.

Thanks for the responses guys. I played around with it this morning. I went into the steering wheel module and changed the long coding to where the 2nd to last and third to last digit is 0. Basically, I told it that I did not have a steering wheel with a heater or controls. This solved the issue.

So, I am thinking there is a short in the control module for the steering wheel??

I have an 04 VW Touareg. You press the menu button (underneath the volume control knob) on the radio once and the speed dependent volume setup shows up. Then you turn the scan knob to your right to adjust the speed dependent level 1, 2, 3 . Issue resolved.
