Went to my local vw dealership today and was quoted $2400 for the timing belt to be replaced that includes water pump and the whole 9 yards. Is this a good price or should I look into cheaper options
I found a local Audi specialist who did it for $650 labor, I bought the parts.
Picked up the enhanced kit including the anti-freeze from ECS tuning. The guy is the head mechanic at a local Audi dealer and has a little biz on the side. I bought the enhanced kit Plus which is on sale now for $418. Ships really fast too. Got it in 2 days.
thanks this was really helpful. What dealership did this for u I'm wondering ifs its local to meJust has this done on my 4.2L V8 this fall. From the receipt at my independent: Labor: 8 hours @ 80/hr $640 Parts: 1 Lever @ 250.92 1 Timing Belt @ 98 1 Roller @ 109.20 1 Roller @122.00 1 Water pump @ 180 1 Ribbed Belt @ 65.65 2 units of coolant @ 23 1 Thermostat @ 61.48
that's a shame that's quite far from me thanks for the info it's much appreciated! The search for shops continues lolThis was an independent garage in Denver, CO. Berg Performance. Great guys and worth the shout out even if it ends up not being local to you.
do u know if they dropped the motor to change the belt? If they have to I was looking into some new headers and primary catsAt least you a price list to compare to. I HIGHLY doubt ANY dealer will give you this kind of deal but any independent german shop should be able to get pretty close. There guys were more an Audi/Porsche shop but had no problem working on the T. I just wish I had them fit me with a sweet exhaust while it was up in the air.
