I have a 2004 V6 Touareg. Yesterday, I accelerated on the highway to get around somebody to get off at my exit, the transmission downshifted fine, power was delivered, and ran fine onto the ramp. As I got onto the ramp, the check engine light came on and the engine began running very rough and shaking the car a little bit. When I got to the light at the highway, and the engine came to Idle, it was sputtering, RPM’s going a little bit in each direction, and almost rumbling. Luckily my home was right by the exit. I made it home, shut the car down, and then had it towed to the dealer. They said it may be an O2 Sensor or crankshaft sensor error that is causing the engine being rough. Can anyone provide any incite on this matter?

More then likely coil packs, but hard to know unless it was scanned to know for sure. You did the right thing by not driving it anymore since damage could occur.

There's been a recall on coils too.

Interesting. I called, and the error codes they are getting on the engine are for random misfires, and misfire on cylinder 1, and misfire on cylinder 3. They said they needed to run a compression test. is this normal?

Sounds like coil packs to me.

washed your engine?

Simple job on recall. Takes about 30 minutes. They should replace all 6

Can't see rapid piston/cylinder wear like that in 2 cyl, so probably a head (valve) issue. Sounds expensive.....
Did they do a dry test followed by a wet test? That will give a good indication where the problem lies.
