I have had my Touareg for about a month and I have had quite a bit of problems. I have had to replace the Air Conditioning twice because the volume of air wasn't strong at all. I am taking it in a third time next week for the same problem :(. My Air Bag fault light came on along with a warning about my lights. I apparently had a parking light out. It then came on again because the high beam wasn't working on one side. After that the low beams went out and my three weeks with the car wasn't what I was expecting. Also the grill broke somehow and it is so loose you can pull it right out! I have taken it in to the dealership and they have been pretty good. I have now become great friends with Stefan who works there! I like to call him Stef'an! (with a French Accent) The only thing that wasn't too great was that the rental car that they set me up with while all the problems were being fixed was a CHEVY AVEO!!!! Have you ever seen one of those things!!! Probably not if you are driving up high in your Touareg! Plus it had Nebraska plates! I am in Colorado! While I was driving someone yelled at me "Nebraska SUCKS!!". I didn't have enough time to tell him I wasn't even from there! Anyways.. Apparently the previous owner made it so the DRL was not on by replacing one of the bulbs in the front beams. The previous owner also is the reason the grill was broken. I have a feeling everything wrong with the car is do to the previous owner! I guess what I am trying to say is... I LOVE MY TOUAREG NO MATTER WHAT PROBLEMS IT MAY HAVE!!!!!! I am also wondering if any of you have had similar or new problems that are lingering?

Well, I just bought mine and brought it to my local dealership for some work. I had two fault lights come on and apparently there are some recalls that need to be taken care of. So, I am currently in a Hyundai Accent....I feel your Aveo pain. This thing has crank windows! I could drive my Wrangler, but that is not a commuter car at all. So I agree with you, I love my Touareg and I miss it already...hopefully it will be done today so I can bring her back home!

I purchased my Touareg last November. So I've had it for about 10 months now. So far I've had very few issues with it. I got it with 52k miles on it, but I got the re-certified 3 year warranty. Most of the issues I've had were basic like changing the cabin filter, and replacing a loose tail light bulb.

So far the only mildly serious issue I've had with it is the intake manifold valve "flutters" at higher RPM causing this horrible squealing noise, sounds almost like a fan belt slipping or something. I talked to a technician when I was at the dealership on Dec 31st, flat tire on the highway on new years eve :(, and they agreed to replace it under warranty.

Fast forward to last week and I drive to the dealership, which is a good 3 hours drive from my home, and I drop off the Egg and the dealer calls me an hour later and tells me that the manifold they ordered was damaged in shipping and that they'll have to order a replacement for me. Apparently they didn't bother to check to see if the part was damaged until the moment they went to install it. Dealer agreed to pay for my gas out there, but still what a waste.

Thanks for replying! It is good to hear what people are going through with there Touareg so we can all go threw it together! I have to admit that I have taken this car to the dealership more than my past cars, but I love my T-Reg more than any other car so it makes up for it!

Those are my thoughts as well. Also, because I have the pre-owned warranty I feel like I want to have them check every little squeak it makes, and the 'egg makes very few thus far ;)

mine too... i have to be very attention focused when i drive mine since i want to make sure i get everything covered under the warranty.

i had mine for about 7 months now and so far i had the drive shaft replaced and i am about to take it in for the clunky gears when slowing down. hopefully all will go ok. i knew it wasnt the most reliable car when i bought mine... but then again this is the worst car i have had when it comes to visiting the dealership or warranty works.

other than that great ride when its not in the shop.

So I just encountered another problem. I was driving two days ago and all of a sudden the "defective wheel on board" signal appeared on the dash. I was on the free way and didn't know what to do so I kept driving. After about five minutes a warning in red came on that took up the entire screen that said "Flat Tyre". I pulled over and there didn't seem to be any problem with any of the tires that I saw of. I have been driving with this warning for the past two days so I don't think it is correct. I am taking it in AGAIN today. Also it is kinda funny because I now have so many warning lights that they line up along the side for each one that I have. Haha every time I turn my car on I hear a series of loud BEEPS indicating a problem or warning the car senses! One time I got really scared because when I turned on my car it did 4 loud beeps instead of the usual 3, I checked my dash and it was the seatbelt warning so I was relieved! I don't think my car can take anymore problems with it right now and neither can I money wise! Good luck to all of you and I pray your Regs live a long and healthy life!

Yeti.....What can go wrong with the TPMS. I assume there is a battery in each sensor that will die after many years. Is the battery replaceable or does a whole new sensor need to be purchased?

The batteries in the sensors will die eventually and you replace the whole sensor, not the battery. The module could go bad as well. You have the newer system and not much has really been said about that one yet since it has not been around long enough to have sensors go bad yet. They older system was prone to sensors dying and the module going bad.

Well I took it in to the dealership and they guy said he went to check the tire pressure and then 15 minutes later he gave me back my car and everything was fine. I also took The Reg into the dealership today and got my driver side light bracket replaced so my lights now work! I also was excited because I had the V10 TDI front grill put on my 04 V8 (because it was broken and I had to get it fixed anyways) and it looks very NICE!! As for my Air Conditioning they found that a flap/rod in the heating motor or something was broken and they are going to fix it for me next week. Life is good!! Mainly because I own a TOUAREG!!! Man we are cool!!
