Yep, got it wired. Not a big deal to do, got it done in a Saturday afternoon a while back. Changing to the Euroswitch was also easy. Do it!

Do a search on this forum, and you'll find a ton of information on this subject. Yes, the tail lights are ready to be used with fog. In fact, depending LHD or RHD countries, the fog light is on the driver's side. Your pick, you can put it left or right. Or both. Mine is left.

3 main features that my "fully loaded" 2005 V8 doesn't have that quickly come to mind. The Onstar, 4 Zone climate control, and the power tail gate. The power tail gate is the one I wish I had.

So now that we have a bunch of guys, who want it real bad, how are we going to go about it.....? The pieces of homework would be to study the wiring diagram and find a crushed egg (front of course), so one can take a look.... Hmmmm

what i want to know is if there is some sort of control module thats needed to make this work. otherwise i think it could be at simple install the power tailgate, run power to it, run signal wire to it from front switch (same signal wire as running to the hatch latch), install switch and wiring into the hatch.

the reason i think there may be a module is because the tailgate is a 2 step process. first the latch opens, then the gate lifts; same for closing. i think that if we used the same signal wire that the latch would shift into closed position when the gate begins to close and it will fail to LOCK into place when the gate hits the latch on the body.

Id be interested in this as well.. subscribed. BTW, UberV10, who do you use for service? I always appreciate dealer that isn't anti-mods.

Adenosinebambam: VW Wellesley is who I use, the service manager is a great guy. His name is Michael Kandalaft and he has been nothing but helpful with everything I have needed/requested.

For the rest of you guys, it appears that RgTorgue was right aside from the obvious parts to get the tailgating moving there is also a module needed. In the words of my buddy at VW: any benefit we would gain would be insignificant when compared to how much it would cost us. That's not to day it's impossible, I would love to see someone try, but it may not be worth it.

I think the OEM route would be quite frustrating and expensive.

You may want to take the route of hot rodders and use Linear actuaors for opening trunks and tonneau covers.

Many of these are operated by remote so that would offer an almost OEM like convenience.

It may be possible to feed the open signal from the hatch switch and you could install a close button near the door in the cargo area or just have a system that works from a remote.

opening would probably be like this
1. Pop Hatch
2. Activate the actuator to open door.

Hopefully the actuator would just need to be put in the close cycle to fully close the hatch.

The best place to see if this is possible is a hot rod and custom car shop as they definetly have to fabricate mounting points and alter to one of the cargo area panels but that is what they do so it may still be costly on the labor side but it should be show quality when they are done if you so desire.

Spal makes these in many sizes and have programmable control modules

Just bought a used hatch with the power lift from a junkyard. $200 for the rear hatch complete.. also got the hyraulic strut and pump (Under the Left rear seat.) and the lift gate controller with some wire. Now I just need time to piece it all together... I think the Left hinge on the hatch is different on the one with the hydraulic... Will know more when I get time to look.
