Power passenger seat upgrade

Again, since there is no interior forum I guess I will post this here...

Ended up finishing my power passenger seat conversion today. My 2010 Touareg TDI was a base model with only a power drivers seat. I was fortunate enough to find a power passenger recently from a salvage yard. Since I was redoing my upholstery anyways I figured it would be a good time to do this upgrade. The wiring for the power seat is mostly there. The only wires needing to be added were the two power wires as shown below (Location 1 and 3).The ground and other wires were already present in my harness.

Here is another view showing how I spliced in the two power wires together for a new feed that goes to the passenger side fuse box. The used seat I received had the wiring plugs still attached although the harness was cut when they removed it from the car. I was able to remove the two power wires from the old plug and add them to my factory harness so it plugs in just like stock. I then ran a new power wire along the door sill up to the fuse panel.

After I had run the new wire I then located one of the stock locations used for a power passenger seat (Fuse 35) and installed a fuse tap at that location. I installed a 30 amp fuse since that is what would normally be there.

All in all this was a pretty easy upgrade. The plugs used on manual seats are the same as the power. Just added in the power feed was all that was needed. Below is a pic of the actual connectors under the seat.

Any questions just let me know. :)

I also just did this upgrade. I have a 2009, and used a seat from a 2008. Both mine have 3 wires coming in and out. Did you have an issue with an airbag light after? I have the cheap Ebay vagcom knock off, but it lets you at least see the error. It looks like a sensor that detects the person present.
