Hello,

Got my 2014 TDI R line I’ve always wanted. I was lucky enough to find one with 19,000 km. I had to do quite a bit researching before getting the Touareg and is the 2nd TDI, first automatic tranny I’ve had.

I’ve never driven a pre-fix treg, but when I step on it (while in D mode) there’s so much delay! I tried the S mode, and is def a lot better. I’m strongly thinking of getting yrktrg TCM fix. I’m just hesitant, as I’d hate to swap out my parts, because it’s so low mileage. Queation, is there a substantial difference from the pre-fix D mode vs the post-fix in sport mode? Would getting cayenne coding be pretty close to the pre-fix treg TCM? And, wouldn’t a post fixed cayenne coding be similar as the post fix tcm?

I don’t know if I can really enjoy driving the car like this. My manual MK6 TDI Golf didn’t change much at all, after getting the emission recall work completed. I love my treg, but it really feels like I’m driving a cvt transmission, and massive turbo lag. Is it bad idea to just keep driving the car in “S” mode, in terms of fuel consumption and longevity?

Thanks,

Ron

Get the pre-fix tcm from yrktreg. It’s a huge difference.

You're "swapping out" the programming on your low milage ECM.
You're not swapping ECMs or any parts.... whatever you send to him, he will bench flash and send it back to you.

You don't "exchange" your low milage ECM for a 300k ECM he has kicking around..... (unless you use his loaner in the meantime)

Yeah, I asked about that, and preferred to discuss over phone, had some questions. I prefer to get loaner, and receive my original back. I haven’t heard back in awhile, want to get ecu done as well, and possibly going to make a trip out there in May. I’ll bug Joe in a bit, as I’m sure he’s prob swamped with work..

I have 2014 R Line and wondering if I can use either 7750 AK, as I’m guessing my current is 7750 CF?

Answer is Yes, but it's easier to just send your TCU in and get it flashed. Car will be down a few days, unless you're in Canada. Or just drive down and when you're in USA, have him flash it for you.

I wouldn't even bother using "S" mode if driving in "D" mode already bothers you with shifting at such high rpms.

Yeah I’m either just gonna be without a car for a few days, or try and pick up a cheap spare one. Maybe I get lucky and find a wrecked unfixed treg.

Squirrel !!!

I can't even......
Lol I wouldn’t care if the car had 60k+ km but is nice, and makes sense, to try and keep the existing parts on the car. That, or I still got the new car bug in me! Haha!

And yeah, I stopped looking for another TCM and just going to send mine over to Joe.

Cheers,

You're swapping a TCM, which is a solid-state component. Mileage has no bearing on its life.

I guess you can say it’s personal preference. Joe mentioned it isn’t a problem, as he’s had customers who wanted to keep their TCM.

Do you still use Cayanne mapping after you get the pre-fix flash done? Is that pointless or does it then use Cayanne pre-fix settings?

I’m only getting the pre-fix Touareg TCM done. From what I read, prefix touareg tcm is very good, if not better than the cayenne? I’m also planning to get stage 2 tune done afterwards, as well.

When you get it done ask if using Cayanne mapping is different, too.

Depending on whether they are two separate base maps, he might only flash the pre-fix Touareg map to the TCM or he might flash both the Touareg and Cayanne pre-fix maps to the TCM. The system might just use a base map and apply its own tweaks based on whether you choose Touareg or Cayanne, which would mean only one map needs to be flashed to the TCM.

It might be that pre-fix Cayanne is sportier than pre-fix Touareg...or did people not bother changing to Cayanne before dieselgate?

I don’t believe he can tune the TCM? I think it’s becazis the Aisin trannys are hard to break into, and not much market for someone to crack? Something along those lines..

I haven’t heard back from Joe in a while. I’ll reach back out to him during the week. I’m possibly considering ecu pre-fix bs stage 2 JR tune. TCM is first and foremost, though..

Quick update, as got the TCM flashed by Yrktrg, and been driving it for the past couple weeks now. Like everyone that has gotten it done, I’m very happy with the way the car drives and responds, now! Thank you Joe, for being a stand up guy and pleasure to deal work with!

Cheers,

Ron

Ron, so you sent your current TCM to Joe? How long was the turn around and what was the fee? You can PM if you prefer. I'm following another post he's on and he said he's got the ECU flash on hold but curious if he's still doing TCM...any input would be helpful. I"m looking to buy a 2012 soon and want things to happen quick if they are available.
