Hiii Touareg Fam,

Recently i purchased VW Touareg 2013. it is a second-hand car. I'm facing an bluetooth issue. when I press PHONE button from dashboard it goes to mute. i don't get bluetooth option to pair my phone. i would like to know why am I not getting bluetooth option in my car. my car doesn't have navigation, climate, traffic button and all. right now I'm using my phone with AUX. i really want bluetooth for handsfree. please help me. thank you

Welcome.
We do need more details, such as a photo of your head unit to identify it.
If you don't have navigation in the head unit, I believe that there will be no blue-tooth either, as your experience of pressing the PHONE button mutes the music, is standard procedure for a unit that does not have a blue-tooth module attached.
I may be wrong, but someone else with Euro experience may be able to assist here shortly.

You appear to have the RCD550. A very simple featured radio/CD player. There is no BT as a standard feature.

Features of “RCD 550” radio system
The main functions are described in the following:
♦ An RDS radio receiver
♦ A 6.5 inch liquid crystal colour display
♦ Integrated aerial diversity
♦ Air conditioning system information via radio display
♦ Optional integrated DAB tuner for digital radio reception
♦ Integrated 6-disc CD changer for mp3, WMA, AAC with ID3
tag
♦ An SD memory card slot
♦ Travel Information Memory (TIM)
♦ Optical parking system
♦ AUX IN
♦ Image from optional reversing camera/overhead view camera
system shown on radio display
♦ 4 loudspeaker outputs

As stated before..... the RCD550 is a basic (features) system.

The action of pressing "PHONE" and the resulting effect of muting the volume, is a standard VW process for any non-bluetooth unit since (at least) 2008.

I am not aware if a VW Bluetooth module will work with your unit. Best to ask your local dealer for available options as there maybe be options for your geographical area that would be unknown to me and/or others here.

Have you owned tha car since new, or just recently purchased (2nd hand)?

@Steve_L This I bought as a second-hand car. when I went to check this car at the VW service centre they told me there is an issue with Bluetooth by viewing from their computer system. and they quoted really expensive to replace that part which is not affordable to me. so I was looking for any alternative solution.
