I'm pretty sure they just moved it and plugged it in. They dealer's electronics team doesn't strike me as being clever enough to do much more than that.
The other point is that the "success" was not 100%. The Phatnoise is usable, but not perfect. The main problem (which is not a problem for me), is that the voice announcements when you scan get shorter and shorter until (after about three or four), there is no voice announcement.
If the current selection ends, the voice announcement does sound properly before the next album/playlist. So it's just an issue when scanning.
It's not a problem for me because I have the PhatNoise set up the same as I have my iPod set up and the same way I had all the rest of my music libraries set up.
That is the only thing I've noticed. I've heard that some button press causes everything to freeze up, it could be true, but I haven't seen it.
The only button I use to scan is #2 - Album.
The other possible factor is the firmware Rev of the PhatNoise. I don't remember what I've got, I did post it up here (two + years ago). I don't know if there's an newer version (I suspect there is, but I don't wanna screw with a system that works ... sorta) for the VW/Touareg.
I still like the PhatNoise a lot, even in its limited functionality.
