parking brake sticks, light/alarm goes off

'05 Touareg V8.

When I pull the parking lever [off], the dash light and alarm continue to go off.
I have to keep tugging at the brake, sometimes several times, before the light/alarm goes off.

Does anybody have ideas as how to adjust or fix the brake?

I have had to pull mine twice since I have owned it. I think others do the same. I am not sure why it is this way, but it is the way mine has worked from the day I bought it.

Mine does the same, I have had the dealer look at it to said they fixed it but they didnt. Now i just give the pedal a little pull with my toe. It must be a contact in that assembly.

If you fish around you will find that others have theirs fixed under warranty. If you are out of warranty, just use your toe. Its only a problem if you are wearing shiny patent leather pumps.:)

It's the gas strut that returns the pedal to it's rest position that's not strong enough. There's a new one available from the dealers that is stronger and returns the pedal quicker.

Had mine replaced under warranty as well about 6 months ago. Has been perfect since. Apparently it's quite easy to install. Enquire about the part from your dealer and do the swap yourself if you're out of warranty.
