P2294 Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve. 2015 3.6

Hello,

I just got a check engine light and code on my 2015 with the 3.6 V6 it is code P2294 Fuel Pressure Regulator Vavle.

does any one happen to know the location of this valve so I can replace it. I looked on the drivers side and I believe I see it on the back right side of the engine but and not 100 percent. If anyone has had this code or issue before please chime in. Thanks!

The HPFP and the fuel pressure regulator valve should be available to purchase separately but is usually available as one unit.
I would double check the connector/wiring to the valve prior to changing it.
The video below is for the Porsche VR6 engine, but I believe it should be similar if not the same for the Touareg.

I just completed this repair and although it is in a tight spot, it is doable. You will need to remove both fuel lines from the high-pressure pump first to gain access the three T-30 bolts that hold it in. I had to move the upper and lower coolant lines out-of-the-way as best I could to access the bottom bolt as well. Replacing the high-pressure fuel pump restored all of my engine power and cleared the codes.

Based on your personal experience does the video I posted show the correct location for the OP?

Yes, that is the location of the pump. It is a little more visible on the Touareg as the Cayenne has a different intake manifold set up. If you are only replacing the fuel regulator, you may be able to reach it from underneath. It will un thread with a pair of channel locks. I think it is best to remove the whole fuel pump regardless and inspect the cam follower located behind the pump spring. Once it's out of the vehicle, you can decide if you want to replace the whole pump or just the screw in regulator.

Also, prior to installing the new pump, you need to rotate the engine clockwise (by hand) to make sure the cam follower is at its deepest within the hole otherwise the screws will be really difficult to tighten as they are trying to compress the spring. I used my finger to feel when the cam follower travel was at its deepest point.

HI all,

I got mine P2294 ON again today. I had same thing happening more than a year ago but it went away on its own and never re-appeared. Got it back ON yesterday, went away shortly after ON again today. So I am thinking to replace HPFP and/or valve. I can easily find complete HPFP on FCPEuro or ECSTunning. But I can't seem to find screw in valve being sold separately. Do you happen to have part number or where I can get one?

I bought a HPFP for my '11 just in case and was looking into the cam follower. The # I came up with for it was
03H-127-307-A. I searched for newer versions, last letter B/C/D, and found nothing but A. I see them on Ebay and such but didn't buy one because it looks like a pretty robust part. I wonder if it's necessary to change it as well.

Thanks for all the help everyone. New pump and cam follower finally showed up. Did a quick search but couldn’t find the torque spec for the 3 bolts. Does anyone happen to know if or have a manual that shows the spec?

Replacement went fine.
I can confirm that 03H127307A is cam follower for 7P Touareg and as others said - extremely beefy and well made unit. I have barely any signs of use on it after 135K miles.

I need to point out that getting and disconnecting hoses is quite inconvenient job especially when you need to get engine lift eyelet out of the way to clear up some space.
Tip for others - after getting clamp away, gently heat rubber hose connection point with the hair dryer a bit (!!! DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK THERE IS FUEL INSIDE OF IT !!!) as I couldn't take it off at all in cold state, it was too stiff and tight.
