P0020 2004 4.2 V8 Touareg

I recently purchased a 2004 Touareg V8 4.2 that has the check engine diagnostic code P0020. Camshaft adjuster bank 2. If I am reading this all correctly, bank 2 is driver side as engine cylinder 1 is located on the passenger side.
I am getting mixed results on what the solution is. I started with replacing the driver side camshaft position sensor (back of engine under the air intake hose). This did not help. Next up is the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid and this is where I am running into issues. When I try to look up the VVT my results are coming back as a belt tensioner. My questions are:
a) Is the VVT and belt tensioner one in the same?
b) Is the VVT the solenoid attached to the belt tensioner? I asked because that solenoid and valve look nothing like the pictures I found of the VVT.

I have taken the valve cover off and except for some grooves in the tensioner guides, the unit looks good.

Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bill
