My 09 does not ahve the little shelf in the glove box to store the owmers manual looks like something is missing there called the dealer and they told me they did away with that I find that hard to believe. Does anyone have one in their treg?

The way the VW has de-contented that Touareg over the year, I'm not at all surprised. Let's wait and see what a another 09 owner has to say.

I don't have one in my 2010. I don't think they've been a stock option for a few years now. That said, I keep mine in a sealed ziploc freezer bag in my spare tire compartment. After reading through it the first time I won't need to refer to it that often anyway but want to make sure I have it in the car when necessary.

I only wish I knew what package it was originally included with since my 04 did not have one either. I don't store much in my glove box anyhow so it just stays there.

That's funny mine is an 04" and it did come with the extra "lip" to store the manual. I do believe you can order the lip to install if it didn't come pre installed. I do remember coming across it once but can't remember where? :(

Amazing how there are some many little things that VW did and didnt put in some models. Example....The little cig flash lite, that came with the egg then it stopped, then it was stated that you could request one for those who didn't receive one. Now I believe it is not in the option area. Such a little item to be hit or miss!

So does anyone not have the extra storage bin underneath the passenger seat? (with models years from 03-06?)

Here's a better one did or does anyone have the this option in their Egg? Anti tow/and motion sensor. It should be located on the driver side right underneath the seatbelt column about midway? I saw it in the manual but my 04" didn't have that option!

Storage drawer under the passenger seat disappeared in 06. The anti tow thing you are talking about was never available in the states.

So you are saying you have the storage flap for your manual? All of them have the molded area that the manual would fit into, just no flap or whatever it was to hold it there.

My 2005 has the little flap door with lip, to seal up the owners manual on the globe compartment. If yours doesn't, you can order it right here demonstrated as example, for $58.19
1stVWParts.com :: Online Catalog

I'm sure most vendors can get this item including your dealer I would think, so I would shop around, as $60 plus shipping sounds slightly silly for a thin plastic piece with a strap.

Mojo0341, not to thread hijack by adding additional info to your question, ROW also had this http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f43/vagging-pitch-role-indicators-on-but-then-what-31401.html.

I'm also trying to figure out why it seems ROW always had this installed, but only some North American users T-Regs(the V10 not counted ;) ) on this forum had this http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f....com/forums/f43/lux-limited-glossy-black-finish-on-side-pillars-mmmm-32628.html

My '04 didn't have the owners manual storage compartment. I ordered one online from the UK, from a company that since has closed down. Used it for a while, but the manual is too heavy for it and it kept popping open, causing a really annoying rattle. I now put my manual in the storage compartment in the rear seat center arm rest and put my VAG-COM cable in the glove box... :D

It will hold mine did the same thing when i purchased my Egg. Make the book looks just like a regular book.(flat square) dont put it in with a slight angle to the manaul. "The manual is thick as you know". Every time I would close the lip and then the glove box, then reopen the glove box the lip would pop open. The two catch tabs at the front are "stubborn" but the more you make an attempt to close it ...it will hold the manual in place! trust me I even thought why did they make this if it wont stay shut!:) It works alot better with time!

hi everyone. I was just reading up on the lack of rear fog lights on my $56000 + 2010 Touareg V6TDI. I got the car delivered about a week ago and was completely amazed of two things (up to now...): No rear fog lights? Living in Europe and having driven euro spec cars all my life, I was a bit shocked last night, when driving back from Milano, I put on the fog lights, but noticed I could not "find" the rear ones. Thanks to this forum, I know now that the "pretty much fully loaded" car is missing a few very vital items!!! Does anyone know how much it would cost, to have these installed? The other item is the lack of electrical retracting mirrors. Do not get me wrong, I love this vehicle to pieces, so much fun driving, but.... My wife's 2009 Ford Fiesta has rear fog lights and retracting electrical mirrors!!! Thanks :)

Wow, we thought the power folding mirrors was just a NA decontent thing. But I thought overseas you can order your Treg the way you want and can order those features? We are stuck with packages here in the US and lost the power folding mirrors, memory seats as well as auto dimming out side mirrors. We never had the rear fog light here since it is not a requirement, but some have installed it anyhow.

Opps! Forgot to mention one thing: My egg is a US Version, not euro. We (Armed Forces in Europe), have the possibility to buy US cars and Versions, so we can take them back to the States w/o any issue. The cars are brought in through Bremerhaven, Germany, put in a special customs state and then shipped to the US bases within Europe. As the new model is coming pretty soon, the vendors have a few showroom models throughout Europe, usually pretty much loaded. So, when the seller called me up and told me had a "loaded" 2010 Touareg with 2 miles, great price, i took it. Again, I went thru the list of options, but did not even think to ask about rear fog lights, nor the mirrors. I saw the fog lights listed, presumed front and back. In Europe, rear fog lights are mandatory, front not... Lesson learned. Now I am wondering, if the two things can be retrofitted thru the VW Dealer, w/o costing me an arm and a leg. Has anyone ever had this work done?

Thanks!

I have a 2010 Touareg TDI. On page 107 of Booklet 3.1 it explains how to put the Owners manual into the top of the glove compartment. I did not have provisions for the owners manual, so I went to the dealer and questioned that. First I got the old "not in your model and such". Then I pointed out that my owners manual points this thing out and has no disqualifier, like "applies to vehicles with this feature", so I said: I should have it in my vehicle. Then she went back to parts with my VIN number. Supposedly my VIN number showed that I should have it, so they ordered it and when it came in, they installed it. Works fine. Don't give in. I believe if the owners manual points it out you should get it.

Hi J,

I asked the same thing in a different forum and was told that it fits but does not hold the manuals too well, apparently it opens every time (or at least very often) you open the glovebox. Not really worth the $58 .... I decided to put it in the back right door. I have also read of putting it in a ziplock bag and storing it in the spare tire compartment. Hope this helps...

FWIW, there are two versions of the "shelf" out there - ver. 1 has been replaced in the VW parts system, but there were still plenty of the "old" ones to be had last year for far less than sticker as I paid ~ $35.
Has worked perfectly since Jan/2009. I don't get the "can't hold manuals" comments I've seen as well...

Don't give in, if the book says you should have it, ask for it. It worked for me. It's s a shame, VW has very nice cars and terrible service. With my Mercedes at the Mercedes dealership, is never any question or push back, I have a problem, they fix it.

some other member of the forum has mentioned this a few months back - there is a place to store the manual under the rear passenger seat (in the middle). not sure if this feature was available in T1 but my T2 has it.
