I used liqui moly top tec 4200, It's vw certified synthetic, (507.00)
Got it from eBay US, made in Germany and comes well recommended,
Price was good as well, even including shipping (10ltr) to Australia from somewhere in USA which is a plus.
Unless the bum falls out of the Aussie dollar even more I will continue to try and source liqui moly oil for my 3.0 tdi.

504.00 is the latest spec for petrol engines.

507.00 is a low ash diesel engine oil which would do great in a petrol engine.

Diesel oils are usually far superior to petrol engine oils.

So should i use 504.01 in my petrol Jetta? I was going to use 507.00.......
504.01 doesn't exist.

What does your manual ask for?

507.00 usually complies with 504.00 as well.

Sorry, got it wrong, your correct, it's 504.00. Not sure what the manual says I was really just checking I could use my 507 oil because I was going to order some more online and it would be easier to order an additional 5ltr of the same stuff.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for the oil chart, it makes it easy to understand the VW oil mystery.

The 504/507 spec oil seems rare without too many choices. I plan to go with the Liqui Moly Top Tec 4200 long life at the next oil change - good call Sydneytreg.
