Hey guys,

So my 2012 CATA 3.0L TDI Highline. I replaced my oil level sensor after it **** the bed, I still get a yellow oil warning to add 1L even though my dipstick shows the oil level is fine and VCDS is getting a reading of 95mm cold from the oil level sensor.

Just curious if I have to program the new sensor to get this to work or what's the deal? No errors in VCDS.

Did your replacement match what you took out? Was it OEM? I don't think your CATA came stock with a dipstick, so someone must've added it. Have you validated the oil level with the VAG specific measuring tool and manual specs?

It does not come with a dipstick I bought one based on a post in this site and it works perfectly. It did match but it was not OEM. VCDS shows a reading from it, I did the oil change myself exactly as I have done for the last 3 years and with the dipstick it reads perfectly full, and previous to this malfunction it would always read full or just below based on temp / level etc....

Well that seems like a shame, so I take it there is no programming that happens when you replace this sensor?

It's safe to request a refund from Germanparts.ca

I thought you said it wasn't OEM. Can you post a full Autoscan and a visual of the warning? Maybe what you're getting isn't related to that sensor.

Is it on your cluster? Is it solid or flashing?
Do you have the RNS850? If so, what does it indicate?

I also don't know what MVBs you're looking at, so I just randomly looked at some of mine but I'm not familiar with their exact correlation to what the RNS850 displays as I've never attempted to compare them before.

Sorry for the late reply busy working crazy hours.

So my auto scan does not show an issue with the oil level sensor. I do have the RNS850, I have the orange oil lamp that is solid on my cluster. Under Car > Service instead of the oil fill level like yours (mine was the same when working) it just says please add max 1L of oil, you can continue driving. This does not change ever, drive for an hour or 2mins stop the car running or just acc.

I got my values from advance values in the engine module. The oil level value does change based on engine temperature, speed, sit / idle time etc.. So it seems to be working but for some reason I have that pop-up.

059 115 611 aa - Dipstick part # I use and after my oil change with exact numbers from my manual and how I've done it for the last 2 years it reads perfect. So I am still pretty inclined to believe it's an electronic problem and not a oil level issue, on top of the fact that the car drives and runs fine. It also stopped working shortly after I pumped about 2L of oil from my oil filter housing by mistake all over the engine and killed my alternator too...since been replaced with OEM.

I can see out values are quite different, and I know the CATA engine has a different oil capacity, but unless another user with a CATA posts their MVBs, I'm not sure how correct or incorrect what you're seeing on yours is.

I mean looking at this there should be no issue, and like I said manual check shows oil in the right range. I never got codes for the sensor when the original **** the bed just the same notice. I've done a reset with VCDS, and disconnected the battery for over an hour still no luck. It's just annoying at this point to be honest.
