Hey Everyone,

Ive been bitten by the overlanding mod bug... now looking into some off road lights to be mounted on a front bumper bar of some sort.

Anyone have pictures of their setups that they would like to flex?

Thanks!

What year Treg do you have?
There was a recent post where someone provided a link to a front lower bar where offroad lights could be mounted.

This would be for a 2011. Yes exactly, there are great light bar mounts from Eurowise that allows for easy mounting.

Im hoping for this thread to be a showcase of what lights overlanders are running, as there are lots of options out there...

Currently leaning towards these newly released hella lights with white and orange DRL.

After many years of overlanding with halogen light vehicles and usually installing expensive lighting systems, I've found the stock steerable HIDs on my Touareg really good for overlanding... better stock than the expensive aftermarket halogen lights I used to use. I haven't felt the need to add extra lighting. I can see everything well- so I don't see what more lighting would get me, at some point brighter lights just make it harder to see.

do you do a lot of night time off-roading or would this be more of a visual mod? I'm asking because I dont do much night off-roading and like casioqv's comment above, I find my T3 headlights work very well when I do go out at night. I do have some ditch lights on the lower windshield area that are pointed at an angle to the side but currently that is the only aftermarket light set-up.

I'm not going to lie though, the look of 3-4 large bumper mounted lights looks pretty damn awesome! :)

That's a good/tough looking Treg.
The lights compliment it well.

Looks like a great setup! I just checked out the Eurowise bar but unfortunately with shipping to New Zealand, it works out at just under $1000 in our money - which is more than the price of the LED lights I'm looking at.

I drive a lot on very dark country roads and the factory HID high beams in my 2012 V8 TDi seem to be quite rubbish - I'm looking at a good quality pair of auxilliary lights (1 x spot, 1 x flood) to light up the road (and sides) a good distance ahead of me. My current lights are so bad that people often don't even flash me when I'm on high beam.

We also tend to get some good sized wildlife stepping out in front of us from time to time (deer, cattle, sheep, wallabies) and with the current lights I've had a few close calls because I almost don't see them in time. Lighting up the sides of the road with the flood beam will definitely help with that, along with generally being able to see further up the road.
