Didn't see a section for interior mods. I retrofitted the OEM ambient lighting door trim to my 2015 Canadian Touareg. Sourced the 4 panels off eBay.de and the connector pigtails off AliExpress. I absolutely love this simple and subtle mod, makes the interior seem much more cool at night. :) My MK7 Golf R had blue ambient door trim and I thought it was neat, and missed it in the Touareg.

Install wasn't too terrible. Most nerve-racking part was melting and re-melting the tweeters, they're held in place by melted plastic posts. :(

Parts needed:

For vehicles with piano black and brushed aluminum trim with DynAudio (R-Line)
FL 7P6867101CQDOZ
FR 7P6867102CGDOZ
RL 7P6867469BBDOZ
RR 7P6867470BBDOZ

Connector 4B0972623 ( x8 ) (I bought a pack of 10 from AliExpress)

Comparison. You can see the "white" stripe along the bottom edge.

Comparison. You can see the light module

Next I want to retrofit the OEM illuminated sill panels, just like my MK7 Golf R had:

Wouldnt mind doing this.
So all you need is these parts ie door trim and connectors?
Remove the old- do the tweeters and thats all?
Connectors are plug and play?

Correct. Remove door panel, remove trim piece, swap tweeters, install trim piece, splice connectors to the handle illumination wires, install door panel.

Another excellent diy from you!
Thanks, but this is hardly a DIY.

Sorta kinda. I find good deals and haggle a lot.

Also modifying cars is an addiction of mine.

Slice connectors? Please elaborate? Are we tapping wires here?

Well, obviously you need to connect the ambient light strip to power so that they work. You current door harness does not have the connectors hanging there, so you need to splice into the inner door handle illumination wires.

I was initially excited about this mod. But since my 2013 has all red interior switch lighting, I'm not sure it would look right.

I believe you can get trim panels from a 2011-2014 with red illumination. I’ll look into it.

Okay thanks. I thought with the connectors it could be plug and play.
Tapping two small wires should be no biggie.
Thanks for sharing this, i now have to find the very same parts you did.
In case you come across it then pls let me know

I found mine on eBay.de for about $450 CAD, shipped from Ukraine.

I spend entirely too much time on eBay.de :(

Chewy, do you by chance happen to have the part numbers for the VW Exclusive threshold trims you posted photos of? I can never find them.

Thanks!!
