I have a testing video showing a Touareg hitting a curb head on at about 50 mph. No blown tires. You must be hitting the curb at too sharp an angle to allow for even contact across the tire patch.
And I would rather have big brakes than big, noisey tires.4x4s said:16" wheels won't fit on any US spec Touareg - the brake disks are too big. 17"s will work though. Tire manufacturers need to catch up and offer good tires to fit.MountainLord said:It's obvious the Germans no nothing about true off-road driving or they'd have offered a 16 inch wheel with the ability to put a larger sidewall.
He could use smaller air molecules. :crazy:Hammerdog said:Using the below link to figure out the diameter, the width is ok, but the total diameter will be 31.60". Science Geek put on Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos 265/65/17 and his diameter was 30.56" and his post indicates about 3/4" clearance at the back wheel well and 1" at the front. So you might be rubbing with those size tires.

Not true. The V10 has 350mm brake rotors up front. The V6 and V8 has 330mm brake rotors up front. The V10 cannot use 17" wheels. The R5 has 308mm brake rotors.AZBob said:Why not? I thought in the U.S. all three vehicles had the same brake components.spockcat said:17" wheels will work on a V8 or V6, not on a V10.
