I know there are multiple threads on ipod integration here, but I've combed through and haven't found a solution that has been proven to work for this...

I'm in need of an Ipod adapter or even just a simple headphone cable to serve as an AUX for my standard factory '08 radio with SAT. I don't mind bypassing the SAT or the CD. I'm not looking to replace the deck. I love my tunes, but it aint worth over a grand. Something in the neighborhood of a hundred bucks is more like it.

I've talked to the dealer, they said it can't be done unless you have a deck w/ NAV or CD changer. I also tried having a USA SPEC PA11-VW6 installed last year which didn't work and the installer gave up after he looked into it and asked around a bit.

I can't believe that even a simple harness - 1/8" adapter won't do the trick to bypass the cd or sat.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the input! I came across GTA Car Kits today and heard some good things about them. They make the module themselves and offer support, warranty, installs and apparently great costumer service.

I figure I'll give them a shot as they're local and know everything about the product - since it's their own.

Better than shipping something out here and finding it doesn't work - or worse - the installer doesn't know how to pair the module w/ the car.

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again.

You need a finer tooth comb. :)
Fair enough. When I looked into this a year ago, I'd been told by several different installers that the '08 specifically was not compatible w/ most modules, and also that the single cd deck w/ sat (no changer) didn't have a work around yet. At the time I went with a usa spec that some guy swore by. He pissed away an entire afternoon trying to work around it and ended sending me away. jokes.

Then someone misled you. FWIW, my son installed the GROM for me as a gift - he later showed me how, and I simply can't imagine it taking more than 20 ~ 30 min.
Oh, and I didn't have the CD changer either - just the base indash head unit w/sat (which still works fine).
My understanding is that the biggest mistake most make is trying to use the "VW" bypass to keep sat radio, but the Touareg requires the "Audi 2" bypass. Oh, and the GROM cable is just enough long enough to reach the armrest console.

I have a factory nav system and decided to have Best Buy install a adapter that works through the antenna. The product is made by iSimple | iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android - Car Audio Smartphone Kits It plays through the factory radio by tuning into a specific channel. They installed a on/off switch in my glove box to change back and forth from the radio to iphone. It will charge the iphone if not in use. Plays great! Our dealership busted my nav nob so my husband ordered the keys to remove unit. We realized now that we have had the unit out we could have easily installed it ourselves (provided we had the right parts). I am in the process of replacing the iphone/ipod connection cable this year (after a year of use) because it fell apart. Unit was about $200 usd installed. I did call Isimplesolutions for help on the replacement and found them very helpful. I think there are a few extra parts that are needed because it is a European car. Hope this is helpful to you.
