The Touareg has been parked the last 3 years not on the road. It awoke lacking power brakes. We did a brake fluid flush (2 liters super dot4), topping it off before it got low (the old-fashioned way). I still have to stand on the pedal to get the brakes to barely work. We activated abs with vcds and blead as well. What are some of the causes of no power brakes? Thanks for any tips.

The brake booster uses vacuum from the engine and an auxiliary vacuum pump. The plastic vacuum lines have a tendency to break and leak. Definitely check those first.

I'm in the process of diagnosing this pump on my 2004 VR6 (Petrol). This pump is used on a lot of vehicles and on different Touareg models (V6 and V8 Petrol + Automatic gearbox). So I thought I'd put all the literature here for any future troubleshooter :) This is gonna be a thread of ramblings...

Thanks everybody. I found the break in the vacuum hose @ master cylinder. Now to pull the wiper arms!
