Hi guys. I'm just about to order my first VW. I'm sourcing a 2004 V8 Touareg from Japan to the Caribbean. We don't have a dealer here for VW but excellent service from at least three main shops. I was a bit skeptical at pull the trigger but from my research this is an excellent vehicle. Hey, you only live once.

Hopefully I can learn and contribute to the club and share my experiences.

Key thing on an early V8 is making sure the timing belt, tensioners, water pump and thermostat are changed on time at 5 years / 80,000 miles whichever comes first.

If anyone tries to tell you different, they're talking total bollocks.

If the belt lets go the engine is toast.

You are buying 12 year old car.

Things will go wrong.

Read the buying a used Touareg thread - the link is in my signature.
