Currently driving a 2016 V6 diesel Touareg with air suspension. Just now my car is in the garage waiting for a new suspension compressor from autodoc. My first try at fixing this myself... Alternative was to wait a month at the local VW dealer. A bit difficult to find a good mechanic where I live, Östhammar north of Stockholm. But so far, after some 5 years, I am a solid Touareg fan. Best cars I have had.

Depending upon what the issue was you could service the existing compressor with the service kit, else replace and reset it all.

I got a new compressor from Autodoc Berlin today. Cost was 10 500 Swedisch crowns, freight included. The dealer asked for 20 000 SKr for a compressor + diagnostics and the actual work time, i.e. at least 30 000 SKr for parts and the job to do it. Even though I did the job very slowly and without stress it only took a couple of hours. But on top of the actual replacement I had some problems to get the car to accept the new parts. Finally I bought a cheap reader (600 SKr) through which I managed to erase the fault codes and get back full functionality. The job was fairly easy, biggest problem was to dare doing it.
