Just became owners of a 2012 TDI Lux, and so far just love what I see and have experienced. I marvel at the engineering and construction as compared to most American rolling stock. To me the Diesel engine is a work of art, and again VW has contributed alot to the improvements made to diesel technology. So far I have not found any design or construction features that I do not like, and look foward to a very long term ownership.

Welcome Tom and Kathy.

Did you get up early on Sunday to DRIVE your new treg?

Congrats on the purchase. When you get a chance take some photos of the new treg. We all love photos

You will find you have a unique vehicle. I wish I could have afforded the TDI

Hi Chaz,
Yup, got out on Sunday to take a leisurely drive to the East end, north fork of Long Island. The trip was about 100 miles and we enjoyed every minute, me driving and Kathy playing with radio, ipod, and nav features. Hey, Keep your eyes on the road, I heard several times. Our vehicle is slightly used, 7,000 miles on the odometer. Todays project was to remove each wheel, clean and wax away the brake dust. I am pretty nuts when it comes to keeping her clean !

Thanks for the welcome , all of you. Oh yeah, we named her new vehicle Teddi, for the TDI engine.

Nice, I like the name. Mines nicknamed "Greg." I shortened up Green Touareg. Welcome, from a fairly new member with a relatively old Toureg. :D The key to success on this site is to read, read and read. Then read some more. When all efforts have failed then your question can be asked and will be answered without receiving flack for not doing the aforementioned reading. :p

Hope you put a smear of copper grease where each wheel centre mates with the hub so they release nicely.

They can bond over time and be a pain to get off which is the last thing you want if you are trying to change a wheel on the side of a busy road [assuming you have a spare wheel, that is!].

Greezy ?

Nah, all out of copper grease. Is that stuff used to pay off the Police?
Anyway, has anyone out there actually seen the battery on a Toureg TDI? Manual says its under the left front seat and you would need special tools to access it. I really would like to see and check it since the diesel needs alot of oompf to spin the TDI over. Wonder what a new one would cost ???

What are you expecting to check on the battery?

Its sealed and, on past performance for most owners, will last from 5 to 8 years.

I would like to SEE cable connections, SEE if electrolyte level can be checked, SEE its shape and design, and like most things I own like to SEE how things work, not just assume all's well there. Call me curious and concerned. Cost to replace ?
