Hi everyone!!!!
I am new to this forum, I would like to say from the information I have read it is a great one, I am about to get a 2012 V6 3.6 FSI gasoline Touareg with less than 14k miles on it, I have previously owned a 2006 V6 3.2 gas Touareg and will tell you that are awesome machines, very comfortable, very well equipped and powerful machines. They are expensive but worth the money.

You will find the build codes in the trunk on a paper label or if is not there , you should have a second copy in you Owners Manual. Each code is a THREE DIGIT ( O2A, P5R, etc...). Use the following Webpage to decode them.

PlanetVAG.com - VW & Audi PR Code Search

Kind Regards

Go to your VW dealer and ask them to print off the several.pages of build sheets, also known as the data sheets.

Every owner should get them for every Touareg.

Membership is Free, as long as you know what a CAPS LOCK key is....Things to do:

1. Include the details of you car in your ID
2. Indicate where in World you are located as the location can change the answer needed.
3. Have a good read through the existing Sub-Forums and posts, from that your questions will be answered..

As above, it's free but don't use the CAPS LOCK KEY!!
Hi I am Adnaan from south Africa.Iv purchased a TOUREG V10 2008 model.Since day one iv had problems with electronics.replaced 2 batteries in 1 year.n keep on getting messages that alternator not charging.removed alternator had it bench tested and found no problem with it.
recent message --engine fault please service now and a pic of a wire loom.i really don't know where to start .a vw mech says the fluid in the
tank next to the diesel tank is low.is this true.this fluid is priced at usd 131 per 500 ml.i believe it takes about 5litres????. will this sort the problem out.i am desperate , if cant be sorted out ill have to sell the vechicle.but I love it but cant bear the continuous elec problems.

sorry for the previous capp lock
The additive tank you are talking about is for eolys fluid, also known as PAT fluid by other makers, notably Peugeot-Citroen whose fluid is a lot cheaper by the way, and was unique, in terms of the Touareg, to the emissions control system on certain V10s.

From previous posts on here over the years, I suspect most V10 owners with an eolys tank don't even know it exists until, after around 100,000 miles [some say 100,000 kms] a previously unseen low level warning light pops on, or, if - like you - they have a VW dealer/mechanic who actually knows about these things [and, trust me, some don't!] advises the owner that the 5 year life of the eolys fluid is up and wants to refill the little tank at a humungous - and totally unexpected - cost!

It is NOT, repeat NOT, ad-blu as some mechanics and others may attempt to tell you!

As above, this fluid is for the exhaust and nothing whatsoever to do with any electrical problems you may have.

Re-reading your post, I don't know what the eolys warning light looks like so get your handbook out and research it.

EDIT: Found this thread and the first post seems to describe your warning light and engine fault:

http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f67/v10-dpf-additive-75885.html

Does look like all you need is some fresh fluid. If so do make sure they drain the old stuff first before putting in the new.

And do a bit of research on cost too! From memory I think someone in Australia confirmed you can use the cheaper Peugeot stuff or possibly bought the VW stuff from a much cheaper source.

The Dual Battery setup on the V10 uses a relay to control battery charging. The fault may very well not be with your alternator..
Email me and I will send you the wiring diagram for your 2008 dual battery system...

Stuart.......
Thanks a lot!!!!!
