Hi there, I'm sure you've all seen a million threads just like this so please bear with me.
I'm in the market for a new (to me) vehicle, always liked the Touareg and I've looked at a few recently. My budget puts me in the 2011 year with 3.6VR6 which seems to be pretty reliable from everything I've read. All of the models I've looked at have the Highline trim package and the Sport package which seems pretty nice. I still find it hard to believe everything I've heard about this backup camera debacle. None of the Touaregs I've looked at have the camera, furthermore none even have the basic backup sensors. Pretty lame on a vehicle of this caliber. Well, enough bitching.
All the vehicles I've looked at are in the 60,000-70,000km (40-60k miles) and have been in spectacular condition. Is there anything I should know about that might scare me off? I wouldn't assume there will be any major issues coming this early in it's lifetime. Things like brakes are something I generally take care of myself. I've read a few thread about retrofitting a backup camera, but it looks like the PDC backup sensors are required for it to work and none of the cars I've looked at have this feature either. Am I out of luck? After having one for the past 6 or so years in my present vehicle I've come pretty attached to it. The lack of even basic sensors is almost inexcusable (I guess I wasn't finished bitching, sorry).
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks.
