Ya, I'm the new guy here with a new toy.
I didn't even know these v10's existed until I got a ride in one a few weeks ago.
I searched kijiji and autotrader and found two for sale in Ontario.
I grabbed one! Talk about an impulse purchase!!!
It did have the worn valve body problem with harsh downshifts and the repair bill came in at $2000, but the car lot I bought it from came good for $1600 of that bill, so I'm happy. It shifts buttery smooth now!

I'm not sure if it will stay my DD or just be a new toy to play with, but so far I like the torque from the v10.
It beats my 5.3l v8 Denali even with the mods I've done to it!
I'm not sure I even want to drive it through a winter. She's rust free now after 10yrs which is a whole lot better than most cars. Not sure I want to be the guy who gets her rusty. LOL, Northern Ontario has a nasty habit of eating cars within 6 yrs.
I took delivery of it last Friday night, but I've been busy reading as much as I can since I paid for her.
I've been looking to see what kind of mods can be done to this machine.
Let me know if you think I may have missed anything.

- Mudflaps w/extensions from local VW dealership. (My wife laughed at me because I ordered and took delivery of mud flaps for a car that I didn't even have in my driveway yet.)

Plan to purchase but haven't got that far yet;
- LED taillights. I can't decide on the generic eBay ones that still use halogen bulbs for signal and reverse, or those other ones with the solid red bars, but use LEDS for signals and reverse. Too bad I can't get the led stop and brakes, AND signal and reverse....
- Trailer brake controller
- LED or HID H7 flash to pass replacement bulbs.
Anything I miss?
Lol, the euphoria of the v10 hasn't worn off yet. Can you tell??
Oh! And she is going in to the local VW dealership on Thursday at 2:00pm for a good once over and because I think I have the vibration drive shaft bearing issue. We'll see. It is what it is. It's 10yrs old.
Anyways, the main point of this post is to say thanks for having a place for Touareg owners to come by and share knowledge of various stuff.
I've learned a great deal simply by using the search button and reading here.
