Hi All!

I've found myself to be the owner of a 2007 facelift V10.

I've not had the time to be involved in previous car forums for a long time but a change in circumstance means i should be able to start poking my nose around in here.

I'm not going to pretent I'm a pro and I will trfy to get more involved but I can only start with good intentions!

A little bit of the story so far is not a great one sadly.

I found the car, inspected it, and did pretty well I thought...
Known issues where all cosmetic
a little bit of bodywork previously done on a wing
dent on the rear wheel arch to push out (and then further assess)
some of the interior switch gear is rubbing away on colour.

Other than that 83k miles, and stood for around 9-12months so I was expecting some gremlins to come to visit.

Drove wonderfully for a week and then warning lights came up. Dreaded TURBO-related issues.

As it's my daily driver I kept using it (steadily) but then about a week ago I long all ignition/power. I found a local guy to help with the investigation and a cloned ECU later it appears that I'm going to be back up and running today.

I'm curious to know what went wrong with it from actual 'Touareg' guys n gals. It flashed up a warning message about the steering lock actuator/sensor, but it wasn't even engaged.

The next bits to sort are the turbos, power wing mirrors and honestly, I want to put lowering links on as I'm not used to being tall yet. Oh, and maybe some R50 wheels.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Touaregs - consider joining the UK sister site Volkswagen Touareg Forum

Check the condition of the battery - when it starts to fail, the low voltage can throw up all manner of spurious faults - get the VCDS diagnostics from Gendan, the UK importer.

Thanks buddy, I'll take a look at the UK site.

I did put a multimeter across and I was up at 11.9 so I don't think it was that and the guy that came round to fit the ECU last night said battery was fine too.

I'll go check out Gendan now... thanks. (y) I hope I never have to use it but something is telling me it will be in the car all the time.

A nominal 12v lead-acid battery normally varies from 12.0V fully discharged to 12.8V fully charged, that's tested when resting ie not being charged or discharged.

Be aware that the V10 Touareg has two batteries, one under the left front seat and one under the boot floor - one for starting and one for general ancilliary use - I'm not familiar with which is which.

As above you have two batteries in the V10.

The one in the boot starts it whilst the battery under the front passenger seat (RHD car) runs the consumer items.

When the boot battery is fooked the under seat battery can start the car.

OK, I've been quiet... My wife is pregnant not an excuse but the car fix has gone on the back burner for a number of weeks... Also, the guy fixing it took a holiday, and took on many other projects, taking 6 weeks just to 'get around to it... Which I feel could only have been a few hours of work since I did all the manual work for him.

An update is due.

I have my car in mainly 1 piece. trims are still in the boot but it's back to having 2 ecus, and a steering column and wheel.

As ECU problems are a little out of my remit I found a local guy... lives on the next road basically so I thought I was onto a winner. ohhhh how could I be so wrong? nice guy but just too busy.

He replaced 2 chips (pictures to follow or attached) from the steering column module. I spend a late night putting it together but now I just get constant clicking... Almost like a relay rapidly firing the steering lock in and out.

I've managed to find another guy who is much more responsive. He also has a Bagged VW Caddy as a work van so I think he may have took pitty on my situation and a fellow VW owner.

He has pointed me an what feels like a much better direction. So 1 Ebay purchase later and hopefuly it arrives tomorrow. If this doesn't work I'm looking at emulating the lock module out of the circut which is a china ebay purchace I think.

I just want my car back... fitting a 7ft chirstmas tree in my wifes 1 series was not fun.

Anyway, Thank you all for the welcome... I'll try not to leave it so long next time 😂

Right guys n gals, I'm looking for some help. Apparently, there is an American bloke who is very knowledgeable here.

I have made progress after being led down a garden path and going the wrong way. As not I have a dash but immobiliser active warning. I suspect this is because I need to recode the steering lock module. Or emulate it.

I'm replacing the steering lock module as the previous guy buggered up mine.
Also, I have a spare Kessy and I've been asked to get a spare 'comfort module'

I have the Kessy coming today/tomorrow and the new steering lock module has already arrived.

What I need help with is locating the Comfort Module. All the data says it's in the boot on the right-hand side behind a cover. (under a 6 disc changer) but it's not there. I have the V10 with Air ride suspension and what is in its place is the Air Ride Control Module.

The reading I have done is that the T1/T2 is the same basic platform for the first Porsche Cayenne, Air ride is more common on those and the comfort module on those cars is behind the dash, next to the dials. Before I go ripping my dash appart is this likely to be true for my Touareg or can someone point me in a better direction?

I think what I'll do once i have fixed the issue is start a new thread somewhere and have annotazted picutres becasue this is driving me INSANE.

I'm not personally doing this work but I have a guy here who has OTIS and other software. I'm sure if things are done wrong they will make more problems but out of the few guys I have spoken to, my bullshit-o-meter hasn't gone off with this one.

I will only take on mechanical work. I'm not a computer guy.

30+ years of ground tenting, last ten with 'Otis' - Hoping to pick up an off-road trailer / caravan next week. Have tried a prototype that worked quite nicely playing in Moab and a couple of other adventures. We do have air suspension, which is lowered in pic at a dispersed campsite with a stream for fishing behind it.
'lift kit' not required or needed.

OTIS is @2013 TDI 's rig.....
ODIS is what your guy has.... just so you know. :p
Look on top of the wheel well, not behind it by the tail lights....

You Sir, are a saviour! Thank you.

I've dug out the comfort module and ordered my spare from eBay. Hopefully, my ODIS guy can solve my headaches.

This is a stupid place to put things... To remove that panel you need to take out the rear seats which I was not doing. Everything is placed loosely back in the right place now and all closed up.
